Meet Our Team

Ray Ford Dip.Ac. Grad Dip.Clinical Ac. (UTS) Cert Ac(China)

Ray began his Chinese Medicine journey with Acupuncture Colleges Australia from 1982-1986 his main teacher at that time was Carole Rogers who has been the driving force behind acupuncture being accepted into UTS as a bachelor degree course.

He returned to formal study by entering the Graduate course in acupuncture offered by UTS from 1995-1997.

Further study in China led to him meeting one of his mentors, Zhao Ben Chuan of Hangzhou a remarkable practitioner with 50 years experience who was a great example and inspiration.

Ray has an ongoing interest in the many traditions of East Asian Medicine and the healing possibilities that these traditions have to offer the world at this time.

Martine Looijschelder BHlth Sc (Compl Med) Adv. Dip. TCM

Martine studied acupuncture and Chinese herbs at the Sydney Institute of Traditional Chinese medicine. After that she obtained a Bachelor of Health Science at Charles Sturt University.

She has also been a massage therapist for 11 years, and has done extensive massage and yoga studies in Australia and India. Martine became passionate about acupuncture when she discovered the solutions acupuncture can offer to cure disease and pain.

Martine finds the study and practice of acupuncture very inspiring and has a strong desire to make acupuncture accessible and affordable for everyone.

She and Ray Ford started Community Acupuncture Australia and hope that many people will be able to enjoy the many benefits acupuncture can offer to improve people’s quality of life

Anada Jones Adv.Dip. TCM (S.I.T.C.M), Cert. TCM (China)

Anada studied Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Sydney Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, graduating with skill in both acupuncture and Chinese herbs.

Anada went on to study at the Guangzhou City Traditional Medicine Hospital (Guangzhou Shi Zong Ye Yi Yuan) in China, further gaining insight into the traditional styles of Southern China in both acupuncture and herbs. In China she also witnessed the combining of modern Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques, to treat all kinds of disorders with much success.

Anada has held a keen interest in alternative medicine for many years, practicing and studying folk medicine, making her own remedies and curing herbs before she went on to study Traditional Chinese Medicine.

She gained a passion for the infinite diagnostic and treatment strategies available within the realms of Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as the spiritual and preventative tools for health and longevity.

Anada loves working in a community environment, has a deep compassionate understanding of people and an adoration for Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Selina Spanswick Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture)

Selina tutors in acupuncture at the University of Technology, and brings over 10 years of experience as a practitioner to CAA.

Selina’s wealth of experience in holistic health care grew from her health science studies at university, in 1997. Since graduating she has facilitated exercise, pain management and mental health programs in aged care, and was Editorial Assistant at Wellbeing Magazine before working in private practice. She subsequently coordinated personal development seminars and has undergone additional studies in bio-feedback and energy renewal.

In her own words, “I was introduced to the guiding principles in the practise of acupuncture, fifteen years ago, by Carole Rogers and have been fascinated by both Eastern philosophy and health, ever since. I have witnessed, countless times, the innate healing wisdom each of us possesses and I am passionate about helping others to realise their healing potential and maintain balance in body, mind and spirit.”
